 4. Champions: Deccan Chargers emerged as the champions of IPL 2009. Led by Adam Gilchrist, the team defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final held at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. 
 5. Outstanding Performers: Some notable performances in IPL 2009 include Adam Gilchrist's century in the final, Shaun Marsh of Kings XI Punjab winning the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs in the tournament (616 runs), and RP Singh of Deccan Chargers winning the Purple Cap for taking the most wickets (23 wickets). 
 6. Awards: Adam Gilchrist was named the Player of the Tournament for his exceptional performances throughout the season. Pragyan Ojha, also from Deccan Chargers, received the award for the Best Bowler of the Tournament. 
 7. Venue Change: Due to security concerns during the general elections in India, the IPL 2009 season was shifted to South Africa for the first 21 matches. After the elections, the remaining matches were held in India.
